Maungdaw – A Rohingya logger was killed by suspected Buddhist nationalists as he went out to the woods.
42 year Salim Ullah (s/o Nazir Hossain) had gone out of the village tract of Yay Nauk Ngar Thar in Maungdaw North on Thursday morning. But even as evening fell, he did not return home causing worry among his family members and locals.
Locals later launched a search party towards the area where he was supposed to be working and discovered his corpse.
The body bore stabbing marks in the forehead, throat and stomach.
Buddhist nationalist gangs are known to operate in the area and they are being blamed for the murder.
Many loggers and fishermen have been killed by gangs when they go out of their villages to the woods or waterways.
Rohingya activists allege this is a well devised strategy to deprive the populace out of a livelihood and force them to move.
