Tatmadaw forces entered Maung Hna Ma in Maungdaw North on Friday and looted Rohingya property.
Sensing trouble ahead of the raid, local villagers, especially young men and women fled to the hills before the army entered the village. The army however looted many of the empty houses whose residents had already run away.
Local collaborators had earlier said many of the Rohingyas in the area were supporting the rebels and the army had a detailed list of them. As a result, there are fears anyone apprehended by the army will either be severely tortured, and the women raped.
A tense atmosphere is prevailing in the village tract and many Rohingyas are staying away from their homes especially during the night.
