On Sunday (5 March) around 5 pm, Rapud Action Battalion (RAB-15) arrested 20 Rohingyas while they were waiting for bus at Morisya Bazar of Ukhiya upazila.
The arrested people are Bashir Ahmad (60), Sabbir Hossain (44), Abul Mansoor (38), Naju Mia (70), Md. Ayas (34), Noor Mohammad (62), Salim Ullah (45), Abu Taher ( 50), Sona Ali (65), Md. Sayed, Ali Hossain (60), Rashid Ahmad (64), Saidur Rahman (40), Syed Hossain (50), Amir Hossain (60), Rashid Ullah (35), Aman Ullah (35), Abdur Rahman (60) , Abdul Hamid (63), and Md. Salim (42).
RAB Additional Superintendent Abu Salam Chowdhury confirmed the arrest and said that RAB conducted the operation based on information that a group of Rohingyas were staying in Morisya Bazar with the aim of moving to different areas of Cox’s Bazar district. Sensing the presence of RAB, they (Rohingyas) tried to escape, RAB managed to arrest 20 of them.
Salam also said that the detainees have been sent to Ukhiya police station after legal prosecution against them.
On the other hand the refugees believe that the arrested 20 Rohingyas are Tabligue members (Who call or invite people toward Allah).
