A group of 56 Myanmar nationals, including men, women, and children, arrived at the Hindu refugee camp in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, seeking safety from escalating violence in their home village of Mindia.
The group crossed the border through Bahdorban Nakkun Sori and reached Kutupalong via auto-rickshaw before arriving at the refugee camp around 11:00 AM.
Fleeing heavy clashes between the Arakan Army and Myanmar’s Junta Military, the refugees cited drone attacks, airstrikes, and the use of heavy weaponry as reasons for their escape. One refugee reported that teenagers in their village were being abducted by the Arakan Army, further intensifying their fear and urgency to leave.
Among the group are over 45 adults and children, all desperate for shelter and safety. The ongoing conflict in Myanmar continues to displace families, with many seeking refuge in neighboring Bangladesh.
Humanitarian concerns are mounting as the violence in Myanmar persists, pushing more civilians to flee their homes.
