On Thursday (23 February) afternoon, some Bangladeshi residents beat four Rohingyas in front of the  BRAC training center adjacent to camp-16, Shafiullah Khata while they (Rohingyas) were going to Shamlapur from Kutupalong and Balukhali camp for fishing with a three wheeler CNG vehicle, the Arakan Express News reports.

According to eye witnesses, the APBn police rushed to the spot and sent the victims back to their respective camps by saying that they would solve the matter.

A Rohingya refugee said, “Jobs are very rare inside the refugee camp and  we are not allowed to work outside the camp. Other hand what food ration we get from WFP does not meet our daily needs. So, we have to face variety of hardships to meet our daily needs.”

“Even though we go out side camp secretly for the search of livelihood, we have to encounter kidnapping, physical assault and even to pay ransom of huge amount,” another refugee from camp said.

Recently the World Food Program (WFP) announced that they are going to reduce the food budget of 200 BDT per head from coming March and even it could be further reduced in April if WFP does not get $125 million asked to donor countries. Experts fear that eventually the refugees will starve and to get involved in anti-social activities in order to meet their daily needs.
