On Tuesday, the Burma Campaign Uk has published a “Boycott List” of 149 products and brands covering a wide range of sectors from construction, media, entertainment, agricultural products and trade.
The idea behind the publishment of Boycott List is to make people aware specifically to embassies, donors, aid agencies and companies to avoid purchasing Myanmar Military owned goods and services. There are also few companies which are Military owned and their earning goes to fund operations and enlarge the military capacity.
Mark Farmaner, Director of Burma Campaign UK stated that “Governments, companies and activists in Burma have told us that they don’t have enough information on all the products military companies produce. Our new briefing paper will make it easier to avoid putting money in the pockets of the generals and helping to pay for the human rights violations they commit.”
