At least 35 houses were demolished by security forces in Soha Parang and Firing Dong of Rathedaung on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Our correspondents say either the Rohingyas have to pay the Hlun Htein, or their houses are being destroyed, which means the poorer villagers who cannot afford to pay are the ones whose houses are being demolished.
However, the homes on the sides of the roads are being demolished regardless of whether the occupants can pay the security forces or not.
On the other hand, it has become mandatory for the shop owners to pay bribes. In all cases, the bribe money was between 200,000 to 300,000 kyats.
The occupants of houses were forced to destroy their own homes at gunpoint.
The government alleges thousands of Rohingya occupied structures are built without proper authorisation.
