Tatmadaw forces shot and killed Zakaria, an elderly man, as he was returning home from the bazaar next to the mosque.
Tatmadaw forces had asked locals not to be out after evening.
Before evening, the Tatmadaw started shooting sporadic bullets which hit the victim resulting in his death.
The incident occurs even as the Tatmadaw works with Rohingya criminal groups in the area.
Despite promising cooperation with Rohingyas, locals say such incidents show the fundamental hatred that Tatmadaw personnel have towards Rohingyas have hardly changed.
After suffering massive defeats to the AA, the Tatmadaw ignited the ethnic tinderbox of Arakan by manipulating Rohingyas and Rakhines to work against each other.
Most Rohingyas have scorned the Tatmadaw’s appeal for cooperation as it is widely known the powerful force that has ruled Myanmar for more than half a century has masterminded the genocide of Rohingyas and led the infamous killing spree of 2015.
However, a small minority of Rohingyas, most of them belonging to terror groups, have been fighting alongside the Tatmadaw.
