On Tuesday (30 August) at around 11 am, laborers working at various gardens in Baish Pari of Ghumdum union saw the Myanmar helicopter flying into Bangladesh airspace and shelled in Bangladesh territory that forced the laborers to flee the workplace.
According to source, the shelling was continued till 2 pm.
On Sunday (August 28), commotion broke out after mortar shells were fired at the border union. Bangladesh protested in this regard. But the Myanmar forces did not heed it and fired mortar shells on the border throughout the day on Tuesday (August 30).
Jahangir Aziz, UP chairman of Ghumdhum, said, “On Tuesday, a Myanmar helicopter patrolled his garden and its surroundings several times and fired numerous shots. Because of this, the laborers returned home without working.”
He said, “Most of the bullets fired by the Myanmar forces fell in the hilly areas of the Baish Fari border. Besides, a bullet fell on the hill adjacent to Ghumdhum Union Parishad.”
The inhabitants including Rohingya around the area are passing days in panic.
