The fate of four men arrested by the military remains uncertain and it is feared they might have been killed in custody.
On Tuesday morning, two shopkeepers and two rickshaw pullers were unloading goods near a shop in Sidi parang, Buthidaung when a military patrol team suddenly turned up. They were arrested without any explanation and removed from the spot.
There are unconfirmed reports they have been tortured to death and their bodies buried in unmarked graves. The two shop keepers are Sanaullah and Somir Ullah, while the two rickshaw pullers are Hala Miah and Md Solim.
In the past three days, the military have killed scores of innocent civilians including children. Many arrested have also been tortured to death.
