Residents report that on Friday, the Arakan Army (AA) captured a border guard headquarters in northern Maungdaw Township, Rakhine State, and that its forces have since entered the town.
Thursday marked the assault of the AA on the Kyee Kan Pyin Border Guard Police headquarters, which was fortified by junta police and military.
The outposts of Nyo Thit Kyi and Inn Din, situated to the east of Maungdaw town, remain under the control of the junta.
According to Rakhine media, approximately fifty junta personnel capitulated to the AA.
The allegations were not independently verifiable by The Irrawaddy.
On Friday and Saturday, the regime launched repeated air and artillery assaults on the townships of Maungdaw, Buthidaung, and Pauktaw, according to locals. Additionally, some junta troops reportedly fled to Bangladesh.
“The AA is attacking junta bases in Buthidaung, Maungdaw, and Ann,” stated a military analyst. Additionally, it is said to be preparing for more extensive offensives in Sittwe and Kyaukphyu.
The Military Operations Command 15 headquarters in Buthidaung Township, one of the principal remaining bases in northern Rakhine State, is being attacked by the AA.
As of November of last year, when the current offensive commenced, the AA has captured nine communities in Rakhine and Paletwa Township in southern Chin State.
