On Thursday sometime in the evening, the Myanmar military carried out mortar shellings from land and warplanes across the Naikkongchari- Myanmar border to suppress the Arakan Army (AA). Myanmar forces carried out this in response to members of the insurgent AA firing AK-47 rifles at the Myanmar army on Thursday evening.
N.A. (name withheld for safety reasons) is one of the people living in the area of Pillar No. 45 heard the sound of the gunshots.
He said that on Thursday (November 3) at around 1 o’clock at night, a war plane suddenly crashed near the 45th pillar, and the clash between the two forces of Myanmar took place far from the border.
From 2 pm to 5 pm of Friday, military fired six consecutive rounds of mortar shells from Tumbru military right camp, opposite of 34 pillar of the border.
Businessmen Abdul Jalil, Abdul Jabbar, Amir Sharif and Ali Akbar admitted the truth of the incident. Jahangir Aziz, chairman of Ghumdhum Union, said that he heard the sound of mortar shells while performing Friday prayers.
11 BGB commander in charge of the border, Lt. Col. Rezaul Karim, consoled the people of the border area and said that what is actually happening is inside their country, and the flying of warplanes is also inside their border. People on the Naikkanchari border can only hear the noise. So there is no panic in the eastern part of the Naikkanchari border.
He also said that there are BGB guards in the border area of 43 to 52 pillars under his responsibility. Regular patrols are in force.
