On Saturday (October 22) around 1:00 p.m, Myanmar’s bullets once again fell in Lemuchhari Bahirmat area of Ward No. 7 and 8 of Dochhari Union of Naikkongchari.
Chairman of Dochiri, Imran confirmed the firing from Myanmar into Bangladesh and said that since Friday (October 21) night, heavy firing was taking place on the Myanmar border near the 48 and 49 border pillars. After a short lull on Saturday morning, firing resumed on the Myanmar border around 1 pm. At this time, a bullet came into the area of Lemuchhari Bahirmat of Ward No. 7 and 8 of Dochhari Union of Naikkongchari. The people of that area are very scared.
Locals said that for more than a week, no gunfire was heard inside Myanmar in contrast to that area. They were very relieved. But the sound of mortar shell explosions started from 12:30 pm on Saturday. Apart from this, the Bangladeshis living on the border are leaving the area due to the incident of firing from Myanmar in Lemuchhari area of Naikkongchari.
In this regard, Naikkongchari Sadar Union Chairman Nurul Absar told Jago News that the sound of heavy gunfire is heard inside Myanmar, opposite to Sadar Union’s Bhalluk Khaiya and Dochhari Union. In addition, the locals reported due to shelling in Lemuchhari area of Dochhari, locals living in bordering areas have left the villages in fear.
Mithun Singh, sub-inspector of Naikkongchari police station, said, “I went to Bhalluk Khaya to investigate a case while there, a lot of gunfire could be heard inside Myanmar.”
