Over 700 Rohingya refugees fleeing fierce clashes between the Arakan Army and Myanmar’s military in Northern Arakan State were intercepted by Bangladesh’s Border Guard Police (BGP). The refugees, including women and children, were reportedly seeking safety across the border after enduring days of relentless fighting.
Eyewitness accounts and humanitarian workers describe the refugees as severely deprived, with no food, medical supplies, or adequate shelter. One worker emphasized, “These are not combatants; they are victims caught in the crossfire of war. Immediate assistance is their only hope.”
Humanitarian organizations have urged the Bangladeshi government to provide temporary refuge and essential aid to the displaced, while global calls for urgent intervention to resolve the conflict in Arakan State grow louder.
This tragic episode is yet another chapter in the protracted Rohingya crisis, highlighting the urgent need for lasting peace in Myanmar and comprehensive support for its displaced populations.
