A man was brutally assaulted and forced to pay 500,000 kyats by the BGP when he was intercepted at a checkpoint. Foyaz (25) from Hpoe Khaung Chaung, Buthidaung; while on his way to Maungdaw on his motorcycle was intercepted at a checkpoint near the Ka Singa thorp.
BGP personal manning the checkpoint began beating him on accusations of being involved in 25th August massacre. Later, the BGP soldiers took him back to Hpoe Khaung Chaung where the town chairman gave a bribe of 500,000 to release him.
Using the main roads without getting assaulted is becoming increasingly impossible for Rohingya Muslims.
