Bu Thi Kyaw is a popular and versatile snack in Myanmar. Rohingya people enjoy this snack during rainy and winter season.
In Burmese it is called Bu-thee-kyaw (ဗူးသီးကြော်).This crispy snack is made from “Bottle Gourd” which is served with a special sauce.
Bu Thi Kyaw also known as Gourd fritter is the most popular fritter among Burmese fritters. Bottle gourd is peeled and and sliced into this pieces, battered in flour and deep fried until it’s golden brown.
For the dip/sauce, 2-3 cloves of crushed garlic, ginger and chili flakes are needed. The ingredients are turned into paste along with sugar, salt and sieve through tamarind mixture.
One can also add a bit of roasted chickpeas powder to the dipping sauce to thicken the sauce and give it a more flavour.
Serve while it’s medium hot.
