On Monday, few Rohingya organizations and prominent activists have come together and created a new platform called the Arakan Rohingya National Alliance.
The Alliance brings together Rohingya leaders residing in different countries to achieve the rights of self-determination of the Rohingya people within the federal union of Myanmar.
A press release says, the leadership called for greater unity among Rohingyas and Rohingya were not secessionists but would want to be a part of the future Federal Democratic Union of Myanmar.
The following press release also says, The leaders expressed their desire to cooperate with all stakeholders inside Myanmar, adding that they were committed to upholding ‘peaceful coexistence’ on the agreed upon union principle of ‘unity in diversity’.
Rohingya leaders expressed gratitude towards the people and the government of Bangladesh for sheltering and taking care of more than a million Rohingya refugees.
Bangladeshi security experts, including retired lieutenant general Md Mahfuzur Rahman, retired brigadier general M Sakhawat Hossain, and Dhaka University’s former professor CR Abrar, among others, attended a virtual programme chaired by Rohingya leaders and newly-formed alliance chairman Nurul Islam.
