A lightening strike incident occurred in Ukhiya Camp-12 in the early hours of Saturday (April 22), where 12 Rohingya including a woman were seriously injured by lightening.
The details of the injured has not been known.
A refugee from camp 12 told Rohingya Khobor (RK) that in the early hours of Saturday heavy thunder sounds along with rain were heard. As the lightning levels subsided, they received reports of people who were struck by lightening, who were then rushed to camp base hospital. It is known that 12 Rohingya including one woman were injured, where the woman’s condition is critical.
Another Rohingya from the camp said, “Our shelters are made of bamboo and plastic tents which are flammable and perforating. So, we always have to risk our lives during fires, heavy rains, intense lightning and riots in the camp.”
