Maungdaw- Hlun Htein forces fired blank shots in the bazaar area of Khawar Bil, Maungdaw North creating panic among the local populace on Wednesday.
Locals say Hlun Htein has suddenly increased reinforcements in the area.
At the same time, they severely assaulted a local man who is known as Hala Bodda (s/o Nazir Hossain).
The aggressive behaviour of the newly arrived Hlun Htein forces have led to panic among local Rohingyas.
Earlier in the week, a youth was assaulted and charged with robbery after he ‘failed to show proper respect to a Hlun Htein commander’.
Locals allege the new Hlun Htein detachment arrived from the Zee Pin Khali region after village authorities requested back up to strengthen their control over the populace.
