A woman was brutally assaulted and forced to pay a huge fine after security forces accused her of being a spy and passing the internal information of the country to outsiders.
The BGP team went to Ward no 8 of Taung Bazaar in Buthidaung on Thursday afternoon and raided the house of Shafika. When they found a mobile phone, they started cursing and assaulting her, saying she was using the mobile phone to pass information to the outside world.
Even before 2017, such practices were common and many Rohingyas have been arrested, tortured, assaulted on trumped up allegations of spying for Bangladesh or other Muslim countries.
