A joint force of Tatmadaw and Hlun Htein raided the village tract of Lound Don in Maungdaw and arrested at least 12 people in the early hours of Tuesday.
As the security forces entered the neighbourhood in Lound Don known as Haati fara in the local dialect, the Rohingya Muslims scattered in different directions and tried to flee the area. Those who fell behind were arrested.
Most of those arrested were released later that day after facing assault in custody. Four of them are still in custody, according to local sources.
On Monday, Tatmadaw confined around 20 women in a field outside the village. The women were beaten up during this time before being freed during the evening.
Earlier during a raid last week, Tamadaw raped women and desecrated the holy Quran and urinated in a local mosque. They came back two days later and sexually assaulted women in a public place.
Rights group allege the Tatmadaw uses rape as a weapon of war against ethnic minorities.
