Dr Azeem Ibrahim, an academic and founding director of the Centre for Global Policy in Washington DC has been awarded the 2019 Engaged Scholar Prize by The International Association of Genocide Scholars (IAGS) for his exemplary influence in the study of human rights violations and mass violence cases.
Dr Ibrahim in his book “Rohingyas: Inside Myanmar’s Genocide” presented in-depth information about the roots of Rohingya crisis. Apart from that, he has also researched and written extensively on the impact of displaced populations including the Syrians, Uyghur Muslims and others.
His publications have appeared in prominent media outlets like the New York Times, the Washington Post, Newsweek, Foreign Policy, CNN, Daily Telegraph, Yale Global and many others.
Ibrahim is currently working on creating a Rohingya Genocide Archives that aims to investigate and document the crimes committed against the Rohingyas by Myanmar and create a databank that can then be used by scholars, historians, researchers and any possible future tribunals.
Dr Azeem Ibrahim was awarded a PhD degree from the University of Cambridge. He was one of the handfuls of scholars to foresee and warn of the impending genocide of the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar in 2016.
The Myanmar military with genocidal intent had undertaken nefarious military operation where they have randomly rapped and killed women and children and burned hundreds of villages which resulted in 1.1 million Rohingya exodus to Bangladesh.
The Rohingya people congratulated Dr Ibrahim for receiving the prestigious award and are thankful for his tireless effort to voice for the Rohingyas and other oppressed people of the world.
Rohingya Khobor congratulates and commends Dr Azeem Ibrahim.
