Pauktaw- A mob attack critically injured two Rohingya brothers in a jungle near Pauktaw town on Wednesday, according to local sources.
14 year Robi Ullah and 27 year old La La were at a forest near the town overlooking their cattle when a Rakhine mob numbering around six to seven people armed with sharp weapons suddenly fell on them. The brothers sustained injuries all over their body, with serious cuts to their head area.
The victims were later rescued by Rohingya men in a critical condition.
Pauktaw became tense in late June when an elderly man was injured in a knife attack raising speculations that a mob attack might be underway but tensions have since subsided, though the uncertainty remains.
Rohingyas in the region say they are vastly outnumbered by Rakhines in an area where Buddhist nationalism has much influene and a notable segment of the populace are making no secret of their plans to completely annihilate the Rohingya and Kaman Muslim community.
