Yesterday at around 3 pm, Armed Police Battalion (APBn-8) detained eleven men and women in front of the US-Bangla Airlines counter inside Cox’s Bazar Airport to go to Dhaka while they were waiting for tickets.
After verifying the information, the police found out that they all were Rohingya.
They were detained from the concourse hall of Cox’s Bazar Airport on Tuesday.
At that time, 3 lakh (18 thousand taka) in cash, 2 US Bangla tickets, 2 Novo Air tickets, and 5 Biman Bangladesh Airlines tickets were seized from them. In addition, two journalists’ identity cards and an IFIC Bank debit card were also recovered.
Those arrested are Md Noor, son of late Nazrul, resident of Block 72 of Rohingya Camp 17, Ukhia, Md Noor, son of Abu Taher of the same camp, Md Ayaz, son of Abul Kashem, resident of I Block of Camp-2, son of late Lal Mia, resident of I Block of Camp 26. Abdul Haq, Rabi Alam son of Abdu Shukkur of the same camp and his brother Abu Bakkar Siddique, Osman son of Nur Alam of A/10 block of the same camp, Rezaul Karim son of late Salimullah, resident of Block 72 of Camp-17, Nurul of Block B/74 of Camp 8 East. Md Aziz, son of Amin, Md Faisal, son of Deel Mohammad, and Rahima, daughter of Abdu Shukkur, of I block of camp No. 26.
8 APBN Additional Superintendent of Police (Media) Md. Kamran Hossain said that an investigation is under way on why they were going to Dhaka, and whether anyone else is involved. A case will be filed against them under the relevant law and handed over to the Cox’s Bazar Sadar Police Station.
