An 18 year old Rohingya boy was injured in a soil slide in Block B, Sub Block B3, near the International Organization for Migration Health Post on February 9, 2026, at around 11:00 am, local residents said.
The injured youth was identified as Mohammad Rofique. According to people present at the site, the incident occurred while he was digging soil on a hillside inside the camp area. During the work, loose soil suddenly slid down from above, injuring him.
Witnesses said Mohammad Rofique became frightened as the soil collapsed and was trapped under the earth. Community members nearby immediately rushed to the scene and rescued him.
After being pulled out, he was quickly referred to a hospital for medical treatment.
Mohammad Rofique is from Majhi Section L18 and comes from a family of five members. He is currently receiving medical care, according to local sources.
Residents said the incident highlights the ongoing risks faced by Rohingya refugees working on unstable hillsides inside the camps. Community members stressed the need for proper safety measures to prevent similar accidents and protect lives in the future.
