Cox’s Bazar, October 22, 2025 — Police in Cox’s Bazar rescued 29 Rohingya refugees, including women and children, from an attempted human trafficking operation along Marine Drive Beach on Tuesday.
According to police sources, the traffickers had planned to send the refugees by sampan boat to another country. Acting on a tip-off, law enforcement officers intercepted the group and arrested three suspected traffickers at the scene.
The rescued Rohingya have been placed under government protection and are currently receiving food, medical care, and temporary shelter. Police confirmed that legal proceedings have already been initiated against the detained suspects.
Authorities said coastal security has been tightened along the Cox’s Bazar shoreline to prevent further trafficking attempts.
The incident highlights the persistent risks faced by Rohingya refugees, many of whom continue to take perilous routes in search of safety and better living conditions outside the camps.
