On 1st July, 4 Rohingyas became victim of “Human Trafficking” as they were lured and offered to give jobs at Rathedaung Township earlier.
The following youths have been identified as Mar Mauk Solin from Owntawgyi (North), Halaya and Soyouk Tamin from Khaung Dukkar village, and Tahay from Bodufa village.
Mar Mauk Solin’s mother said that, her son went to Rathedaung in search of work. Then he and others were kidnapped and demands were made for Kyats 5 million for their releases.
These families live hand to mouth and have no money to pay to the traffickers. Although the families have approached the responsible authorities including the anti-trafficking centers in Sittwe and a case has been also registered at city police station on 12 August, they report there has been no action been taken.
Earlier, 3 Muslim students from Kyin Ni Byint refugee camp in Pauk Taw township were abducted in July. The kidnappers demanded Kyats 10 million from the families. They are also counting their days as their poor families could not pay the ransom till now.
