A total of 81 Rohingya individuals were detained while attempting to cross into Bangladesh from Myanmar via the Alikadam border in Bandarban district. The detentions occurred as a result of a coordinated effort by local authorities and law enforcement agencies.
According to local and administrative sources, following reports of Rohingya crossings from Myanmar on Sunday night, local authorities launched an operation across the Alikadam upazila. By Monday morning, November 11, 81 individuals were apprehended from various locations. Among them, 42 were detained at Alikadam Bus Station, 24 from Kanamajhi Camp, 14 near the Chokkyong Union Bridge, and 1 individual was apprehended by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) forces.
Due to the continuous movement of Rohingya refugees attempting to cross the border, local authorities and law enforcement agencies have increased security in the area. It is believed that these individuals are fleeing ongoing violence and hardship in Myanmar’s Rakhine State, seeking safety.
