Cox’s Bazar: On Sunday (16 October) starting from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm, 993 Rohingya refugees of 338 families from various camps in Ukhiya left for Chittagong in 20 buses, who will be transferred to Bhasanchar in Navy ships.
A total of 32,000 Rohingya refugees were transferred from various camps of Ukhia and Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar to Bhasanchar shelter of Noakhali in 17 phases.
The government plans to shift at least one lakh Rohingyas to the shelter of Bhasanchar to reduce the pressure on the camps of Ukhia-Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar. According to official information, the Bhasanchar shelter project was implemented under the supervision of the Navy at a cost of Tk 3,950 crore from the government’s own funds. In that area of 13 thousand acres, 120 clusters have been built for 100,000 Rohingyas.
