Yesterday around 12:45 p.m. two Rohingya siblings along with another individual were killed and four others were injured in a road accident when an auto-rickshaw collided with a pick-up van of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Balukhali area, Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar.
The two Rohingya siblings were Md Ayub, 17, and Md Nur, 25 who were dead on the spot and five others injured are Amir Hamza (35), Abul Hosain, Dildar Begum, Zobaer (7) and auto-rickshaw driver Shamsul Alam (28), states by sub-inspector (SI) of Nayapara Highway Police Sharif Hasan.
After the deadly incident, the locals lend their hand to rescue the injured and took them to Save The Children in nearby Chakmar Kul area. Later they were shifted to Cox’s Bazar District Sadar Hospital, where Shamsul Alam the auto-rickshaw driver died due to his severe injuries.
The father of deceased Rohingya siblings Amir Hamza, a resident of Nayapara Shalbagan Rohingya Camp also got injured in the incident.
The auto-rickshaw involved in the accident has been kept in police custody.
