An urgent appeal for support follows the devastating fire in the Rohingya camp

A catastrophic fire has recently ravaged Camp 13, Block B3, home to many Rohingya families. On May 24, 2024, the fire broke out, leaving 4000 individuals homeless and 10 people injured. The blaze destroyed 210 shelters and damaged 220 more, along with crucial facilities such as latrines, bathing cubicles, and community spaces. Significant losses include one Community Safe Space, a mosque, 45 shops, a distribution centre, and eight tap stands.

In response to this tragedy, Shuprova, Saker and their team are urgently appealing for immediate relief and assistance. They aim to launch an emergency support project to help 200 affected families by providing essential items and rebuilding critical community spaces.

Project Overview: Emergency Relief for Rohingya Fire Victims

Objective: To provide immediate assistance and relief to families affected by the fire, including the restoration of vital community and educational resources.

Scope of Support:

  • Light Clothing Distribution: Provide clothing to protect individuals from the rainy season conditions.
  • Blanket Distribution: During this challenging time, provide blankets for comfort and warmth.
  • Kitchenware Assistance: To help families prepare and consume meals, and distribute essential kitchenware, including dishes.
  • Mat Distribution: To ensure a more comfortable living environment for displaced families, supply mats.
  • Reconstruction of Religious and Educational Spaces: To restore vital community and educational resources, rebuild one mosque and two Madarashas.
  • Hijab Distribution: Assist women who lost their clothing, including hijabs, in the fire.

Budget Plan for Emergency Support

The estimated cost to support one family is $50. We need generous contributions to provide critical aid to these vulnerable families.
