The Arakan Army and its political wing, the United League of Arakan (AA/ULA), reportedly abducted 13 Rohingya intellectuals from multiple villages in Kyauktaw Township on the morning of August 26.
Abductions Across Villages
According to local sources, the abductions took place around 8:00 AM across four villages: Paik Thei, Wa Kin, Wa Lar Kan, and Taung Htaung. The detained individuals are respected community figures who played important roles in local education, leadership, and social affairs. No explanation has been given for their detention, and their current whereabouts remain unknown.

From Paik Thei village:
- Soe Win (42), son of U Shwe Tha
- Aung Khin (36), son of U Omar Abbas
- Hla Maung (39), son of U Baidullah
From Wa Kin village:
- Nur Hussain (45), son of U Abdu Rohim
- Kamal Ahmed (45), son of U Sidik Ahmed
- Mohammed Noyum (30), son of U Tun Tin
- Mohammed Taher (38), son of U Mohammed Nasir
- Shaikul Islam (50), son of U Haidor
- Lwin Ko Ko (41), son of U Nur Hussain
- Maung Tun Hla (27), son of U Zawlil Ahmed
- Hla Hla (38), son of U Kobir
From Taung Htaung and Wa Lar Kan villages:
- U Thein Maung (36), son of Soyedu Bosor
- U Ba Tin (38), son of Hussein
Fear Among Communities
Community members said the abducted men were known as local intellectuals and leaders trusted by their neighbors. Their sudden disappearance has caused deep concern among Rohingya families in Kyauktaw, who fear further arrests and intimidation.
As of now, the Arakan Army has not issued any statement or justification regarding the detentions. Families of the abducted remain without information on the condition or location of their loved ones.
