Tensions continue to escalate in Buthidaung Township as the Arakan Army (ULA/AA) intensifies its campaign of forced displacement, ordering the eviction of two more Rohingya villages.
New Villages Ordered to Evacuate
Local sources report that residents of Fetoa Ali (part of Mee Kyun Zay village tract) and Zadi Fara (part of Dar Paing Saya village tract) have been instructed to leave their homes immediately.
Initially, the evacuation order was urgent, but due to Ramadan, villagers pleaded for an extension. The AA granted a one-week delay, warning that force would be used if they failed to comply by the deadline.
These two villages contain four mosques and six Islamic schools (madrasas), all now at risk of demolition. Displaced residents are preparing to move toward Sin Khwin Pyar and Gutar Pyin villages in search of safety.
Mass Displacement of Rohingya Communities
The forced eviction of Rohingya villages in Buthidaung has been ongoing for months, leaving thousands displaced. Some of the affected villages include:
- Fetoa Ali, Zadi Fara, Pyin Shay (Lamba Bil), Kyauk Maw Taung North (Shawdor Fara), Kyauk Maw Taung South (Hadim Fara), Da Byu Chaung (Daburunyong), Pule Taung (Mawna Fara)
- Maung Gyi Taung (Shahbazaar), Aung Lan Pyin (Maurisa Bil & Oli Bar Fara), Thare Kone Tan (Shayri Khuna), Maung Hlama (Rang Fara), Nga/Kyin Tauk, Bhadana, Kumi Khali, Mee Kyun Kone Hswe, Kone Tan, Laung Chaung (Rusana Bil)
- Oriya Fara, Bazaar Fara, Inn Nget Thay (Kiya Zingya Fara), Pyar Pin Yin (Sitor Fara), Htan Shauk Khan (Howlya Siri), Rwa Nyo Taung (Rangya Taung Middle, Fourni Basha, Rangya Taung South), Kuntine Village Tract, Tharak Kinu (Tharak Kuni)
Fear and Uncertainty Among Rohingya
With each passing day, more Rohingya families are being displaced, living in constant fear that their village will be next. Many have nowhere to go, with limited access to food, shelter, and safety.
Despite repeated inquiries, the ULA/AA has not provided any justification for these forced evictions. The situation continues to deteriorate, raising serious concerns over human rights violations and the long-term future of the Rohingya in Buthidaung Township.
