On 23rd August 2022 at around 8 pm, the two members of Rakhine rebel group Arakan Army (AA) including an officer intruded at the house of Mohamadul Hasan at Taung village of Buthidaung township while Nur Bahar (35) wife of Mohamadul Hasan was sitting near the door.
The AA officer called her (Nur Bahar) grabbed the woman, hugged her and tried to forcefully rape her, and AA members shot at the woman’s leg when she strongly refused to do as they wanted.
Locals said not only the AA members shot the Hasan’s wife to serious injury but also they cut down the bamboo fence of Hasan’s house.
A Rohingya from Buthidaung under anonymity said that when the locals informed the matter to Rakhine law enforcement agency, they took Hasan for interrogation and imposed upon him to keep the information from getting out.
Locals also said that the AA members tried to take the woman’s family under hostage in order to cover up the actions of terrorist Army.
A tense situation is prevailing around the area.
