Cox’s Bazar, February 27, 2025

The Arakan Rohingya Cultural Association (ARCA) successfully hosted a grand cultural event at the IOM football field (Mufijar Maàt), showcasing the rich heritage of the Rohingya community. The event, which began at 9:30 AM, featured traditional music, poetry, motivational speeches, and storytelling, reinforcing the importance of cultural preservation among displaced Rohingya people.

Preserving Identity Through Culture

The event aimed to strengthen Rohingya identity and unity by highlighting the significance of language, traditions, and faith. Through artistic and literary expressions, ARCA sought to instill pride in Rohingya heritage, ensuring that younger generations remain connected to their roots despite the hardships of displacement.

Key Highlights of the Event

✅ Motivational Speeches (Nosiha) by Rohingya Scholars – Esteemed scholars emphasized the importance of preserving the Rohingya language, culture, and traditional attire, inspiring the younger generation to safeguard their identity.

✅ Islamic Songs in Rohingya Language – Heartfelt nasheeds were performed, narrating the history of the Rohingya and the life of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in Siratul Risala, strengthening both spiritual and cultural ties.

✅ Poetry in Rohingya Language – Poets recited emotional verses reflecting the suffering, resilience, and aspirations of the Rohingya people, ensuring that their voices continue to be heard.

✅ Honoring 20 Rohingya Poets – Twenty poets were recognized for their dedication to Rohingya literature, highlighting their role in preserving the community’s stories and historical experiences.

Community Reflections and Future Aspirations

Attendees expressed deep appreciation for the initiative, acknowledging the crucial role of cultural preservation in maintaining identity amidst displacement. The event concluded on a hopeful note, with ARCA committing to organizing similar programs in the future.

“Your support and prayers encourage us to continue preserving our culture and identity,” organizers said, emphasizing the importance of continued efforts in safeguarding Rohingya traditions for generations to come.
