Yesterday, Arakan Rohingya National Organisation (ARNO) expressed its gratitude to the Indonesian people for rescuing about 100 Rohingya refugees who were stranded on the sea for more than five months.
ARNO pleaded the Indonesian government to continue extending temporary assistance and also asked the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) to address the root causes of the Rohingya crisis by supporting the Rohingya people’s rights to be legally recognized as an ethnic minority in Myanmar as well as by restoring the full citizenship of them as par other ethnic nationalities of Myanmar.
Mr Nurul Islam, chairman of ARNO thanked the Ache people, the civil societies and those all involved both in the public and private sector in their solidarity and support to the Rohingya boat people.
