A disturbing case of suspected attempted murder has left residents of Camp-2W in shock, after a Rohingya woman was found seriously injured inside a latrine in Block-B, Sub-block B-2.
The incident occurred last Tuesday, April 22. It was reported by community members who discovered the woman hanging from a string attached to the roof, with clear signs of stab wounds, suggesting a violent attack.
“She was hanging and bleeding. We were horrified,” said a woman from the same block who helped raise the alarm.
Medical Emergency and Ongoing Condition
The victim was rushed to the nearest clinic, where emergency responders provided initial treatment. Due to the severity of her condition, she has since been referred to a higher-level emergency hospital for further care.
Her identity remains undisclosed for safety reasons, and her condition is reported to be critical but stable as of the latest update.
No Arrests Yet as Investigation Continues
Authorities have yet to confirm who was behind the attack or what the motive may have been. A formal investigation is underway, and security personnel have visited the scene.
“This was not just an accident—it was an act of violence,” said a local camp youth leader. “The camp is no longer safe for women.”
Renewed Calls for Camp Security
The incident has intensified community concerns over the lack of safety measures within refugee camps, especially for women and girls. Human rights groups and local volunteers are calling for stronger law enforcement presence, increased lighting in high-risk zones, and survivor support services.
“We need protection—not promises. These attacks are becoming too frequent,” said one resident from Block B.
