The Bangladesh Coast Guard has seized 1,140 bags of cement and a large quantity of basic daily food items that were allegedly being transported illegally to Myanmar. Nineteen people have been arrested in connection with the incident.
According to officials, the goods were being moved with the intention of smuggling them across the border when Coast Guard personnel carried out an operation and intercepted the shipment before it reached its destination.
“We received information about the illegal transport and took immediate action,” a Coast Guard official said. “A total of 19 people connected to this incident have been arrested and are now in custody.”
The seized items include cement and essential food products commonly used for daily needs. Authorities said an investigation is ongoing to determine who was behind the smuggling attempt and whether additional individuals were involved.
Officials confirmed that legal action is being taken against those detained.
