On Thursday, Minister of State for Women and Children Fazilatun Nessa Indira requested Canada’s Ambassador for Women, Peace and Security Jacqueline O’Neill to hep Bangladesh in returning Rohingyas to their homeland Myanmar.
The request was made when Jacqueline attended a meeting at the conference room of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs at the Secretariat on Thursday.
State Minister Indira said that Bangladesh has played an active role in the formulation of Resolution 1325 of 2000 for the security, protection and peace of women in times of war and conflict. The purpose of which is to ensure the involvement of women in the formulation, analysis and implementation of all policies of the United Nations Security Council, and the participation of women in the decision-making process. In this light, Bangladesh has formulated the National Action Plan 2019-22 on Women’s Peace and Security. Which is being implemented by 11 ministries.
During the conference Canadian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Lily Nichols, Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Children Md. Hasanuzzaman Kallol, Additional Secretary. Muhibuzzaman, Ambassador’s Adviser Kate Fiander, and Canada High Commission Counselor Bradley Coates were present.
