The body of a man reported missing since Tuesday, 19 November 2024, was discovered today, 21 November, under suspicious circumstances.
Local sources allege that the victim had been summoned by members of the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) shortly before his disappearance. While the motive behind the killing remains unclear, camp residents have expressed fear and outrage over the deteriorating security situation.
Law enforcement authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, but details remain scarce. A police official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said, “We are gathering evidence and questioning witnesses to establish what happened. It is too early to draw conclusions.”
This latest incident has intensified calls from camp residents for stronger measures to ensure safety within the refugee settlements. Many have expressed concerns over the increasing influence of armed groups and the lack of adequate security.
Human rights organizations and activists have also called on the government and international agencies to intervene and restore a sense of security in the camps, warning that unchecked violence could lead to further destabilization.
The victim’s identity has not been disclosed as authorities work to notify the family and complete the investigation.
