After the Japanese ambassador to Myanmar Ichiro Murayama’s statement, Japan-based Rohingya advocacy groups have blamed Japan of siding with Myanmar’s military.
Zaw Min Htut who is the Vice President of Burmese Rohingya Association in Japan (BRAJ) stated “Today Japan is not cooperating, not supporting the United Nations actions on Myanmar.”
He appealed to Japan not to “buy into the military’s lies,” and to support international efforts in bringing about justice for the crimes committed against the Rohingya people.
Last week in a conference he said, “We rely on the international community because there are not many friends in Myanmar for the Rohingya people.”
Meanwhile, the Japanese government said it is not in a position to judge on the matter.
