On 30 August 2022 at around 10 am, a Chinese delegation of 6 members visited Rohingya repatriation site at border of Ghumdhum Union of Naikkongchari Upazila to start the repatriation process, that created the fright of forced repatriation among Rohingyas living in world largest refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar.
“Arson, killing, arbitrarily arrest and human right violation still going on in every corners of Rakhine state”, Sultan Ahmed from Kutupalong camp said adding more that repatriation in this condition means pushing the Rohingyas into fire.
A Rohingya who declined to be named told Rohingya Khobor that they will go back to Myanmar after seeing what all the reasons that forced them to flee to Bangladesh still exist in Myanmar. Moreover, the Myanmar government hasn’t restored their citizenship.
The Chinese delegation was led by Chinese Ambassador Yan Huling who was accompanied by Senior Assistant Secretary Manzoor Alam and Executive Magistrate. They visited Bangladesh-Myanmar Friendship Bridge. After visiting these areas, the Chinese ambassador left for Cox’s Bazar at around 11:30 am.
