Ongoing clashes have erupted in the Rohingya camps of Ukhia and Cox’s Bazar. The most recent incident occurred last Friday night in blocks E, G, and O of the 3 and 4 Rohingya camps in Ukhia, resulting in a three-way confrontation. The incident injured at least 10 people, some of whom sustained gunshot wounds.
Among the gunshot victims are Ziaur Rahman, a resident of block F-72 in Kutupalong 3 Rohingya camp in Ukhia, and Shawkat Ali, a resident of block A-11 in the 5 Rohingya camp. We have yet to confirm the identities of the other injured individuals. Following the incident, various hospitals within the camps accommodated the severely injured.
A three-way clash between the RSO (Rohingya Solidarity Organization), general Rohingyas, and the APBN (Armed Police Battalion) took place last night in the Moichara Bazar and various areas of the 3, 4, and 5 Rohingya camps in Ukhia. The clash resulted in an exchange of approximately fifty rounds of gunfire. At one point, agitated Rohingyas destroyed 25 shanties belonging to RSO members in block E of camp 4. Additionally, the militants vandalized around 10 shops.
None of the officials from the Armed Police Battalion, responsible for the security of the Rohingya camps, were willing to comment on the matter. However, Shamim Hossain, the officer-in-charge of Ukhia police station, confirmed that he had heard about the three-way clash in the Rohingya camp, which left several individuals with gunshot wounds. The injured are currently receiving treatment at Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital.
