The officials of the Naikkongchori Upazila Land Office have conveyed the land of the Rohingya Repatriation Center to the representative of the Office of the Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC) at the northern part of Lal Bridge on the Ghumdhum border of the mountainous Naikkongchori Upazila.
They visited the place at 11:30 on Thursday (October 12) and explained the land conveyance to the Rohingya Repatriation (RRRC) officials. At that time, people from both the authorities were present.
The delegation reached the transit camp location of Ghumdhum BOP under 34 BGB. Later they explained to the representatives of the RRRC office at Cox’s Bazar that the Rohingya Repatriation Center would be constructed on the northern side of the new border check post inside Bangladesh, 150 yards from the border pillar BP-31/1S. Naikkongchori Upazila administration confirmed the matter.
Meanwhile Naikkongchori Upazila Nirbahi Officer Romen Sharma told the reporter that the government is working for the repatriation of Rohingyas to Myanmar. In the first phase, the site of the repatriation center was visited. Which has been explained to the concerned. However, the local administration will do what the government directs regarding transit camps and these centers will be completely temporary.
