In a disturbing incident on December 25, 2023, a Buddhist armed group infiltrated the Aung Min Galar ward in Sittwe Township with the intention of robbing the Rohingya residents. The intrusion occurred around noon, prompting the Rohingyas to unite in an attempt to thwart the armed group’s criminal activities.

As tensions escalated, the armed group resorted to violence, opening fire on the Rohingya community. Tragically, two Rohingyas sustained injuries to their legs during the gunfire. In the face of the escalating threat, the villagers evacuated the area for their safety.

Local law enforcement has since responded to the incident, with police officers currently conducting an investigation in the affected quarter. The community remains on edge as authorities work to address the aftermath of this disturbing event.
