Today the State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr. Enamur Rahman said that Dhaka hopes to repatriate some of the Rohingyas to their homeland by October of this year.
The State Minister also said, “As a result of the ongoing violence in Myanmar, no citizen of the country has the opportunity to enter Bangladesh. Intrusion will be prevented under any circumstances.”
He said these things to reporters at the end of a seminar organized by Human Relief Foundation, an NGO in Cox’s Bazar, at noon on Wednesday (September 7).
“They (Myanmar authorities) have expressed interest in taking 35,000 Rohingya from the list given to Myanmar. Even if there are some temporary family problems, it can be overcome soon and repatriation can begin,” Dr. Enamur Rahman said this by adding more that the representatives of Myanmar also announced that their demands would be accepted after the talks. Where security and identity will be ensured.
He also said that Myanmar is very flexible in the face of pressure from Bangladesh and the international community to solve the Rohingya crisis.
The Minister of State for Relief also expressed hope that any situation at the border would not affect Rohingya repatriation.
