On the occasion of the Diamond Jubilee of Myanmar’s independence, Dhaka has congratulated the country on behalf of the people of Bangladesh and expressed its hope that Nay Pyi Taw will take back the Rohingyas, sheltered in Bangladesh to their native land. This optimism was expressed by congratulating Myanmar on the Facebook page of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday.
The message congratulated Myanmar on its Diamond Jubilee and wished for inclusive peace and prosperity for the people of the country. Apart from this, mentioning that as a close neighbor, Bangladesh is committed to developing mutually beneficial relations with Myanmar, it is said in relation to the repatriation of the Rohingyas that the pressure on Bangladesh will be reduced if arrangements are made for the safe, dignified, voluntary and sustainable repatriation of the Rohingyas who have been hanging for a long time in their own land.
Meanwhile, in his state of the nation address on the occasion of Myanmar’s 75th Independence Day on Wednesday, the country’s army chief Min Aung Hlaing thanked Bangladesh, India, China, Thailand, and Laos for advancing positive relations despite various adversities.
However, despite thanking Bangladesh, Myanmar’s army chief did not say anything to resolve the Rohingya crisis.
