On Thursday the State Minister for Foreign Affair Shahriar Alam told the reporters that the government has instructed the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) to be on high alert so that not a single citizen of Myanmar can enter Bangladesh. He said this by mentioning that the internal situation there (Myanmar) may have deteriorated in the last two-three days. The Rohingyas there in Myanmar can try to enter Bangladesh at any time.
The State Minister said, “we could not prevent them (Rohingyas) from leaving in 2016 or 2017, nor we intentionally didn’t want to prevent them. From the point of view of humanity, the Prime Minister has given them a place. But now there is one thing, we have some information, which was not there at that time.”
Shahriar Alam said, “we are getting several news in Rakhine State. Two confirmed incidents took place on August 20 and 28. Where two mortar shells fell on the border of Bangladesh as part of an internal conflict in Myanmar. Immediately after that, on 21st and 29th, I summoned the Myanmar ambassador and submitted a protest letter. I told him the details as much as we have.”
The State Minister believes that there is no possibility of Rohingyas fleeing from Myanmar in a group like before, as there are no Rohingyas in that sense now in the location where these are happening.
Some Rohingya believe that the Myanmar junta can put pressure on remaining Rohingyas in Rakhine state to flee the country in order to make the state Rohingya free in the name of fighting between Arakan Army and junta group.
