European Union Home Affairs Commissioner, Yalva Johansson, who is visiting Bangladesh on Thursday (November 10), announced three million Euros for the Rohingyas who are in currently in Bhasanchar.
The announcement was made in a ceremony at the embassy building of the head of the European Commission delegation in Gulshan of the capital. At this time, State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr. Md. Enamur Rahman was present.
The European Union Home Affairs Commissioner arrived in Bangladesh this morning on a two-day visit (Thursday and Friday).
The State Minister for disaster management and relief said in the event that the European Union will provide three million euros in humanitarian aid to the Rohingya in Bhasanchar. “We are happy to hear that”, he said by adding more that they also helped the Rohingyas in Cox’s Bazar. The Government of Bangladesh is grateful to the European Union.
Enamur Rahman said, “When the conflict started in Myanmar, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina opened the border and ordered Rohingyas to enter Bangladesh. At the same time, the Prime Minister said that if the people of Bangladesh get to eat, they will share that food with the Rohingyas. That is why our Prime Minister has been given the title ‘Mother of Humanity’ by the international community.”
He said, “Bangladesh government is trying to ensure all kinds of humanitarian assistance to the Rohingyas. The violence among the Rohingyas has already been brought under control.”
The Minister of State for Relief also said that the issue of nutrition of the Rohingyas of Bhasanchar has come up for discussion. The nutritional situation that was there in the beginning, has now improved a lot in Cox’s Bazar and Bhasanchar.
