On Saturday (4 February) at around 7:40 pm, fire started on the roof of a house in block B of Nayapara registered camp in Teknaf.
A Rohingya refugee who put off the fire said under the condition of anonymity that while they were sitting in a shop, they noticed fire on the roof of room no-3 of shed 1122 in block B of Nayapara RC. The room is belonged to Nur Mohammed. As soon as they saw the fire, they shouted saying fire, fire, and near by refugees rushed to the spot and managed to bring the fire under control after attempt of 10 minutes.
The roof of the house burnt to ashes. No other casualties have been reported.
Another refugee said, “We couldn’t find any sign of starting fire from inside of the house. But it is being believed that some body threw something on the roof that made start fire.”
Following the unexpected fire, a tense situation is prevailing among the refugees in camp.
